Rufflebum Rambles

You've slipped into the backrooms

The first thing you notice is the scent of stale lemon cake. It's so thick in the air that the cloyingly sweat aroma is almost choking you. You suppress the urge to cough and take stock of your surroundings; You're in what appears to be the living room of a long abandoned doll house. It almost looks like a normal Victorian manor, but the scale of everything is just off. There's a thin layer of dust covering the antique furniture and you can see particles of it floating in the sunbeams filtering in from the outside. Beyond the window is a forest of birch trees and bramble, with bits of dark pine breaking up the monotony. Before you can even begin to wonder how you got here, the life sized doll in the corner begins moving. How had you not noticed it sitting there before?

You don't know how you got here, but you don't seem to want to leave...

You poor thing...

"You must've slipped through reality again, huh? Don't worry, you're safe here. It might smell of cobwebs and nostalgia, and there's this ever present electronic hum no matter how far from the offices you get, but the backrooms can be quite cozy when you make a home there. Why don't I make us some tea? That's certain to settle your nerves."

The china is clean but worn. You wonder if you should trust the beverage offered, but the smell of roses and citrus filling the air as the amber liquid pours from the pot is convincing enough that you decide to risk it. The cookies set beside you also seem tempting. Despite your break from reality and the general uncanny nature of your host, you begin to feel a little more at ease. Maybe you should explore a bit…

Welcome to my new, revamped website! Here's where I post… pretty much anything I want. Rambles, EGL content, fandom stuff, art and writing. It's my personal website, after all! I want to make something self indulgent, but I also hope people like it!

I learned a lot working on my last layout, and I wanted to implement my new skills on one that was a bit more customable. I used petrapixel's layout generator , which was a big help! I always find myself worrying that using templates is "cheating", but a hobby is supposed to be fun. As someone with dyslexia, struggling my way through css on my own is decidedly not fun. I'm thankful for all the wonderful people who provide free help, codes, and graphics to those new the indie web! You can find more on my resources page!
